The Family Avenues Assessment

£797

The Family Avenues Assessment is a calm, supportive process designed to help you understand your child’s needs — and what’s driving the challenges at home. We take a whole-family approach, looking at what’s working, what’s feeling overwhelming, and what small changes could make home life feel more connected and manageable.

Drawing on our professional experience and the principles of Dr Ross Greene’s Collaborative & Proactive Solutions model (“children do well when they can”), we explore your child’s strengths, current pressures, emotional world, and the expectations they may be finding hard to meet.

We also take time to understand your family context: routines, relationships, support networks, sensory needs, and the day-to-day realities that shape your child’s experiences and emotional responses — as well as how these influence your own responses as parents.

At the end of the assessment you’ll receive a clear, personalised report with practical recommendations. You will also have a support session where we will go through these recommendations with you, giving you tools and confidence to continue on your family's journey.

This isn’t a diagnostic assessment or therapy. It’s compassionate, evidence-informed guidance for families who want to understand their child better and create a calmer, more supported home life.

We understand that as children grow and experience transitions, their needs may change. If, following an assessment, you later feel another support session would be helpful, we are happy to offer this without the need for a further assessment.

Your child does not need to have a diagnosis for you to benefit from the Family Avenues Assessment. We take a neurodiversity-affirming approach that supports the whole household — including neurotypical siblings.

If this is something that you would like to find out more about, we offer a free 30 minute telephone consultation where we will explain more about the process and give you an opportunity to ask questions to determine if the Family Avenues assessment is right for you. Please contact us through the form on our home page and we will be in touch to arrange a convenient time for you.

DLA 1:1 Workshop

A woman surrounded by a large stack of papers and documents in an office, holding a sign that says 'HELP' with a worried expression.

Applying for Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for your child can feel overwhelming — the forms are long, the questions are confusing, and it’s hard to know what to include.

This 2-hour supportive video session is designed to help you feel clear, confident, and ready to complete your application.

We’ll go through the form together, step by step, exploring how to describe your child’s needs in a way that truly reflects their daily reality. You’ll leave with practical notes, clarity on what information matters most, and reassurance that you’re not doing this alone.

This session does not guarantee an award, but it will give you the confidence and understanding to approach your application with much more ease.

Before the session, we will email you a brief guide on how to get the best from your session and what to expect.

Perfect for: parents and carers who want guidance, clarity, and emotional support through the DLA process.
Duration: 2 hours (via video)
Includes: guidance, examples, word bank and a summary of key points discussed
